Weldability study of the high-strength pipe steels of the X80 strength category. Yefimenko L. A., Yelaguina O. Yu., Kapustin O. Ye., Vyshemirsky Ye. M. P. 3—7.

Weldability of the high-strength pipe steels of the X80 strength category is studied; application of these steels may provide considerable reduction in steel intensity and gas pipeline construction and service costs. Cooling rate efficient range is determined for the metal near the pipeline weld junction; the range ensures required field-performance data.

Temperature field data computation at forced heat sink slag welding. Panin V. N. P. 7—12.

Different schemes of heat sink source distribution at forced heat slag welding are suggested aimed at welding thermal cycle regulation. Programs are launched, calculation analysis is carried out and quantitative dependence of the different schemes of heat sink source distribution influence on the critical parameters of the welding thermal cycle is established.

Arc self-regulation system at machine and automatic welding. Dyurguerov N. G., Saguirov Kh. N. P. 13—14.

Welding arc self-regulation system stability is considered as servomechanism. It is established that it is not a slope of the static characteristic of an arc that load is determined by at machine and automatic consumable electrode welding, but a slope of the static characteristic of the arc self-regulation system, that makes the system practically stable in any case.

Heat exchange characteristic investigation in axisymmetric components of the contact tubes. Volodin Yu. G., Marfina O. P., Kouznetsov A. B., Ryzhakova Zh. S. P. 15—17.

Experimental investigations results of the cylindrical pipe initial section and of a confusor are given. It is established that cylinder abrupt junction into a confusor forms a high-beat area at the entry into the latter; the size of the area depends on the confusor convergence angle, and temperature difference, exceeding 700 K, forms conditions under which, heat-transfer factors are 2—3 times reduced.

Period of the thyristor on state as feedback parameter in automatic control systems for contact spot welding. Klimov A. S., Kudinov A. K., Guerasimov A. A., Antsiborov A. N. P. 17—22.

A possibility to construct a contact welding control system using thyristor on state duration as feedback parameter is shown. Measurement accuracy requirements are substantiated; approximate dependence brief analysis is carried out to determine power factor and further welding current parametric stabilization.

Surface preparation techniques for soldering dissimilar metal materials. Karzhavin V. V., Guzanov B. N., Mineyev G. V. P. 22—26.

On the basis of a scientific and technical literature review it is shown that dissimilar metal materials soldering is rather ineffective due to considerable internal residual voltage generation, as well as surface embrittlement as a result of solder melt impact. To solve the above mentioned problems, electrochemical metal precoating may be considered quite a promising technique. Similar coatings formation was put into practice as a result of processing in the melted saline medium on the basis of alkaline or alkali-earth metals. Coatings’ surface texture is investigated; component distribution along the coating thickness is established. Research results are described.

Restoration of the life-expired high-speed steel cutter tool by deposit welding. Shneyder Ye. A. P. 31—32.

Restoration processing of the life-expired high-speed steel cutter tool by deposit welding is developed. This technology ensures minimal thermal influence, considerable energy intensity and labour expenditures reduction at restoration, as well as high quality of the build-up layer.

Percussion electrostatic welding with magnetic-and-impact drive. Strizhakov Ye. L., Neskromny S. V., Merkulov R. V. P. 33—35.

A new in essence shot welding practice using magnetic pressure as forging force is suggested. This allows for warming up and severe deformation of the jointed surfaces. The essence of the process and its advantages are described; research results are covered.

Influence of the fillers and dyestuff on the welding characteristics and operating ability of plastics at ultrasonic welding. Volkov S. S. P. 35—39.

Mechanism of the fillers’ and dyestuff s influence on the heat build-up, weldability and quality of products at plastics ultrasonic welding is substantiated. Heat build-up specific power dependence on the disperse filler concentration is obtained. Ultrasonic welding conditions for dye stuff and filled polymers are determined. Optimum fat dye strength, опpеделены оптимальные концентpации жиpоpаствоpимых кpасителей, lakes, disperse fillers and inorganic colorants are determined, at which optimum welding characteristics, durability and quality of products are achieved.

Electrocontact soldering equipment. Tolyarenko V. N. P. 39—40.

A description and performance specification of an electrocontact sealer, designed at VNIIESO (ВНИИЭСО) is covered; its application allows for steady soldering quality and high production.
